Erie, Pennsylvania

City Rebrand Design

Erie is one of Pennsylvania’s oldest cities, with a rich heritage rooted in the Erie Native American people and early American history—especially its role in the War of 1812. Known as the “Flagship City,” Erie was the home port of Oliver Hazard Perry’s ship, The Niagara, which helped secure victory over the British.

As Pennsylvania’s only Great Lakes port, Erie’s identity is shaped by its maritime legacy and natural beauty. Home to Presque Isle State Park and its scenic beaches, the city offers a unique blend of history and nature.

Despite its charm and clear marketability, Erie remains relatively unknown and unbranded. As someone who grew up there, I saw this as a valuable opportunity to create an identity that captures its distinctive spirit—honoring its past while embracing its future.
